DASA programming is geared towards individuals with Spina Bifida, Spinal Cord Injury, Cerebral Palsy, Amputee, Visual Impairment, Muscular Dystrophy, Multiple Sclerosis, Traumatic Brain Injury, or an Orthopedic diagnosis.

If you are new to DASA you can register for any of our awesome sports or activities by going to our registration page and following our 2 simple steps. Once your new athlete form has been processed, we will be in touch personally to let you know when you may begin registration.
We currently offer Recreation programs in the Mid-Missouri area. We welcome athletes from the Columbia area to participate in our competitive programming, but please be aware that competitive practices take place in the St. Louis Area. Click here to learn more about our competition programs!

Adaptive Weight Training
Athletes will engage in strength & conditioning stations including weight lifting. This training can prepare the athlete for a future in Para Powerlifting as well as an additional day to maintain strength and conditioning training!
Para Powerlifting is open to male and female athletes with physical impairments. The bench press is the sport’s single discipline. Competitors must lower the bar to the chest, hold it motionless on the chest and then press it upwards to arms length with locked elbows. Athletes are given three attempts and the winner is the athlete who lifts the highest number of kilograms.

Rock Climbing
Adaptive Rock Climbing is an amazing sport for our athletes. At DASA, we make sure that every athlete can make it to the top! We have experienced rock climbers making sure this activity is completely safe for our athletes and volunteers.
- When: Thursdays, 6:00pm-7:30pm
- Dates: 9/14, 9/21, 9/28, 10/5, 10/12 and 10/19
- Location: COMO Rocks, 205 E Nifong Blvd, Suite 120, Columbia, MO 65203
- Cost: $90 for the entire session; $18/class
Swimming
Learn to swim with one-on-one instruction. DASA swim lessons emphasize core strength, body awareness, endurance, and water safety. We begin with basic full body movement and letting the child get comfortable with their own abilities in the water. DASA swimmers typically do not use flotation devices which helps with developing greater self-awareness of their body and their abilities in the water.
There are 2 different sessions from which to choose (5:30pm-6:15pm & 6:15pm-7:00pm).

Wheelchair Basketball-Skills & Drills
Learn Basketball Skills & Drills. This is your chance to try out the sport before committing to the DASA Competitive team!

Track & Field
Try your skills at racing on the track; throwing the shot put, discus & javelin; and flying high in the long jump!
- When: Tuesdays
- Dates: 4/4, 4/11, 4/18, 4/25, 5/2, 5/9
- Where: Battle High School

Adaptive Yoga (Virtual or in STL)
EVERYONE can practice yoga! We offer classes lying on the ground, seated on the floor, seated in a chair or wheelchair, kneeling or standing. We offer two different times, 5:45-6:15 for youth and 6:15-7:00 for teens, adults and veterans.

Who is Eligible to Participate?
DASA works with cognitively age-appropriate individuals 5 years of age and older, including military veterans and injured first responders, living with permanent physical, visual, and hearing disabilities who have difficulty leading an independent life and participating in sports with their non-disabled peers.
