Archery
Bullseye! What started as a recreational activity for DASA athletes has become a full-session, adaptive archery sports program with a competitive team of archers to show for it. Competitive Paralympic Archery is identical to Olympic Archery in that archers shoot 72 arrows from a distance of 70 meters at a target of 122 centimeters, trying to achieve a perfect score of 720.
Archery competition is open to male and female competitors of all ages with physical disabilities including those with amputations and limb loss, spinal cord injuries, and traumatic brain injuries. Athletes can compete either standing or in chairs. Adaptive equipment is available.
Competitive archery is new to DASA and we couldn’t be more excited to get our team competing. Archery season is from September through July, and archers will compete in several local and travel competitions. Be sure to join us this season and change your life.
DASA is fortunate to have Coach MJ Rogers, Team USA Paralympic Archery Coach, as a regular archery volunteer!
