DASA programming is geared towards individuals with Spina Bifida, Spinal Cord Injury, Cerebral Palsy, Amputee, Visual Impairment, Muscular Dystrophy, Multiple Sclerosis, Traumatic Brain Injury, or an Orthopedic diagnosis.

Athletes will engage in strength & conditioning stations including weight lifting. This training can prepare the athlete for a future in Para Powerlifting as well as an additional day to maintain strength and conditioning training!

Para Powerlifting is open to male and female athletes with physical impairments. The bench press is the sport’s single discipline. Competitors must lower the bar to the chest, hold it motionless on the chest and then press it upwards to arms length with locked elbows. Athletes are given three attempts and the winner is the athlete who lifts the highest number of kilograms.

BULL’S EYE is the name of the game! Learn the skills and technique needed to get that bull’s eye every time! Adaptive equipment available.  Athletes will be split into two 45-min groups based on age and skill level.

  • When: Sundays, 6:30pm-8:00pm, broken into two 45-minute slots

Boccia is a game of strategy and accuracy. The sport is played on a flat, smooth surface, where players must throw or roll colored balls as close as possible to a white target ball, known as the “jack.” The player, pair or team with the most balls near the jack is the winner.

Adaptive Rock Climbing is an amazing sport for our athletes. At DASA, we make sure that every athlete can make it to the top! We have experienced rock climbers making sure this activity is completely safe for our athletes and volunteers.

DASA Flames is the beginner power soccer team. DASA provides the soccer chair, you provide the athlete!

This Paralympic sport is a test of accuracy and control, in which competitors use air rifles to fire a series of shots at a stationary target.  Each athlete is set at an individual station and taught safety when handling the air rifle. Athletes must be at least 12 years of age.

Learn to swim with one-on-one instruction. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday nights will have 2 different classes (6:00pm-6:45pm & 6:45pm-7:30pm).  Wednesday night will have 2 different classes (6:30pm-7:15pm & 7:15pm-8:00pm).

WHEELCHAIR or STANDING tennis players are welcome! The game of wheelchair tennis follows the same rules as able-bodied tennis as endorsed by the International Tennis Federation, except the wheelchair tennis player is allowed two bounces of the ball. The player must return the ball before it hits the ground a third time. The wheelchair is part of the body and all applicable ITF Rules which apply to a player’s body shall apply to the wheelchair.

DASA can also help you up your game for the Paralympics, Collegiate level or for FUN!

Come play with us! Each date we will have a different sport theme & we will focus on creating a fun-filled environment while participating in gross motor activities designed to encourage your toddlers abilities to become athletes!

THIS PROGRAM IS ONLY FOR ATHLETES WITH A PHYSICAL DISABILITY AND ARE 18 MONTHS TO UNDER 5 YEARS!

Toddlers must be able to follow 1-2 step directions; participate with the group during introduction circle, warm up stretches, toddler development-level activities with the sports theme of the week, and closing show and tell circle; stand/sit in line; take turns; and try adapted ways to participate in a sport.

Competitive & Development Sports

Fall Competitive Sports include Boccia ($300 fee), Power Wheelchair Soccer ($300 fee), Sled Hockey (Adults: $500 fee, Juniors: $300), Wheelchair Basketball ($300 fee) and Wheelchair Rugby ($300 fee).^

Spring Competitive Sports include Archery ($300 fee*), Para Powerlifting ($300 fee*), Swimming ($300 fee*) and Track & Field ($300 fee*).^

*The DASA Sports that are offered at Junior Nationals (Archery, Para Powerlifting, Swimming, Track & Field) will have a base fee of $300 for the first sport and any additional sports will cost an additional $50. For instance, if an athlete registers for competitive swimming & competitive track & field then the fee is $350 for the season.

This is DASA’s Competitive Archery Team. Athletes will have coaching support at 2 regional events, plus entry to DASA’s Gateway Games. Competitive Archery athletes will also be supported to attend Nationals. DASA will also offer a Development Non-Travel Program.

This is DASA’s travel competition Boccia Team. Athletes will have coaching support at practices, at at least 2 regional events, plus entry to DASA’s Gateway Games. Competitive Boccia athletes will also be supported to attend Boccia Nationals. The team will have additional practice times. These times will be established as a group.

DASA has several different Competitive Power Wheelchair Soccer teams and a Development Non-Travel Program. Athletes on the Competitive Teams will have coaching support at least 2 regional events, entry to DASA’s Jerry Frick Memorial Power Soccer Tournament, and support to USPSA Nationals, if team qualifies, or last post-season competition.

DASA CarShield is the competitive travel Sled Hockey team. We have an Adult A Team, Adult B Team & a Junior Team and a Development Non-Travel Program. Athletes on the Competitive Teams will have coaching support at inner-league travel competitions, entry to DASA’s Sled Hockey Tournament, and support to attend Nationals.

The DASA Swim Team is the competitive travel Swim Team. Swimmers must be able to swim at least a 25 meter length of the pool independently and must be able to swim more than 10 laps in a one hour practice session of any stroke independently.

Athletes will have coaching support at 2 regional events, plus entry to DASA’s Gateway Games. Competitive Swimming athletes will also be supported to attend Nationals. DASA will also offer a Development Non-Travel Program.

Season practices will start in January.

Athletes on the Competitive Team will have coaching support at 2 regional events, plus entry to DASA’s Gateway Games. Competitive Track & Field athletes will also be supported to attend Nationals. DASA will also offer a Development Non-Travel Program.

The DASA Rolling Rams (JV & Prep) are the competitive travel Wheelchair Basketball teams. Athletes will have coaching support at at least 2 regional events, plus entry to DASA’s Tournament. Competitive athletes will also be supported to attend Nationals or last post-season competition. Adult players will only have the option to participate in the non-travel development team this year!

WHEELCHAIR or STANDING tennis players are welcome! The game of wheelchair tennis follows the same rules as able-bodied tennis as endorsed by the International Tennis Federation, except the wheelchair tennis player is allowed two bounces of the ball. The player must return the ball before it hits the ground a third time. The wheelchair is part of the body and all applicable ITF Rules which apply to a player’s body shall apply to the wheelchair.

Come play with us! Each week we will have a different sport theme & we will focus on creating a fun-filled environment while participating in gross motor activities designed to encourage your toddlers abilities to become athletes! THIS PROGRAM IS ONLY FOR ATHLETES WITH A PHYSICAL IMPAIRMENT AND ARE 18 MONTHS TO UNDER 5 YEARS!

Toddlers must be able to follow 1-2 step directions; participate with the group during introduction circle, warm up stretches, toddler development-level activities with the sports theme of the week, and closing show and tell circle; stand/sit in line; take turns; and try adapted ways to participate in a sport.

April 23rd

  • Theme: Track and Field events in preparation for Gateway Games event on May 15!

May 15th SUNDAY, arrive at 9:30, event at 10:00

  • Theme: Toddler Track & Field Events. This event will happen at DASA’s annual multi-sport competition called Gateway Games! DASA’s older athletes will be competing and the Toddlers will have a “mini competition” during the Games. They will run a 20m dash, throw a noodle javelin, softball shot put, and frisbee discus.

BULL’S EYE is the name of the game! Learn the skills and technique needed to get that bull’s eye every time! Adaptive equipment available. Athletes will be divided into groups based on skill level (beginner, intermediate & advanced). Prior to start of session, athletes will be notified of their time slot.

  • When: Sundays, 6:30pm-8:00pm; broken into 45 min time slots.
  • Dates: 10/30, 11/6, 11/13, 11/20, 12/4
  • Where: The St. Louis Bow Hunters Archery Club, 301 Tecumseh St, St. Charles, MO.
  • Cost: $40

Boccia is a game of strategy and accuracy. The sport is played on a flat, smooth surface, where players must throw or roll colored balls as close as possible to a white target ball, known as the “jack.” The player, pair or team with the most balls near the jack is the winner.

  • When: Thursdays, 6:00pm-7:00pm
  • Dates: 11/3, 11/10, 11/17, 12/1, 12/8

Learn the art of Paralympic Powerlifting while training to get stronger. In this sport, athletes (ages 11 and up) do a bench press. Competitors must lower the bar to the chest, hold it motionless on the chest, and then press it upwards to arms’ length with locked elbows. Athletes must be able to hold the bar independently.

  • When: Thursdays; 6:00pm-7:00pm
  • Dates: 11/3, 11/10, 11/17, 12/1, 12/8

DASA Flames is the beginner power soccer team. DASA provides the soccer chair, you provide the athlete!

Adaptive Rock Climbing is an amazing sport for our athletes. At DASA, we make sure that every athlete can make it to the top! We have experienced rock climbers making sure this activity is completely safe for our athletes and volunteers.

Athletes will engage in strength & conditioning stations including weight lifting. This training will prepare the athlete for a future in Para Powerlifting.

Para Powerlifting is open to male and female athletes with physical impairments. The bench press is the sport’s single discipline. Competitors must lower the bar to the chest, hold it motionless on the chest and then press it upwards to arms length with locked elbows. Athletes are given three attempts and the winner is the athlete who lifts the highest number of kilograms.

Anyone 18+ is welcome to come out and learn/play wheelchair basketball. This is your chance to play the sport in a fun yet competitive atmosphere.

DASA works with cognitively age-appropriate individuals 5 years of age and older, including military veterans and injured first responders, living with permanent physical, visual, and hearing disabilities who have difficulty leading an independent life and participating in sports with their non-disabled peers.
